Emma Scarbrough is a rising American racer from Atlanta, Georgia, who’s climbing the junior single-seater ladder with the kind of determination that turns heads—and she’s doing it with F1 Academy already watching.
EARLY YEARS
Born on May 18, 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia, Emma grew up in Senoia and started karting young, getting her first taste of competition wheels before most kids figure out algebra. She began racing karts in 2019, diving headfirst into a world where being the only girl on track is basically a given. By the time she hit her teenage years, she’d already spent six years honing her craft in the cutthroat karting scene, proving she had both the skill and the stomach for it.
OTHER INTERESTS
When she’s not strapped into a race car, Emma’s got her hands full with decidedly non-racing hobbies—like winning fishing tournaments. Yes, really. She lists saltwater fishing as a favorite pastime, along with traveling, playing soccer and basketball, and watching college football (go Georgia Bulldogs). She’s also an Atlanta United fan and never misses a chance to catch Formula 1 on TV, where she cheers for McLaren and Ferrari. Balance, apparently, is her thing.
EARLY SUCCESS
Emma spent six years grinding through national-level karting before graduating to senior categories in 2024, competing in Rotax and ROK classes. That year, she also led the ROK VLR Junior field at the 2023 ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour at Orlando Kart Center, proving she could handle the pressure of a clean start and a competitive field. In 2024, she tested an F4 car for six days with Campos Racing in Spain and participated in the Red Bull Formula Regional test, making it clear she was ready to move up the ladder. She closed out her karting career with a solid run at the SKUSA SuperNationals XXVII in the X30 Senior class, finishing 45th—a respectable result in one of karting’s biggest events.

INSPIRATIONS
Emma lists Max Verstappen as her racing hero—no surprise there, given his no-nonsense dominance and calculated aggression. Her goal is straightforward: become an IndyCar or IMSA driver. She’s not chasing the European dream like so many American juniors; she’s got her sights set on the series that matter most back home.
REPUTATION
At seventeen, Scarbrough is earning a reputation as a steady, consistent competitor who doesn’t crack under pressure. Her rookie season in USF Juniors showed she could hang with the boys—she frequently ran inside the top ten and scored points on debut at NOLA Motorsports Park alongside fellow female drivers Kaylee Countryman and Maddie Colleran. Her selection for the F1 Academy Rookie Test wasn’t a fluke; it was recognition of her promise, skill, and determination. “Emma has shown real promise in her early racing and is already proving she has the determination needed to progress in this sport,” said those who’ve worked with her. She’s fast, she’s focused, and she’s not here to be a footnote.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Emma’s making moves. After finishing her rookie USF Juniors season with InterMS, she headed to Silverstone in late 2025 for the Ginetta Junior Winter Series with R Racing, using the off-season to get more seat time and sharpen her racecraft. Her participation in the F1 Academy Rookie Test—backed by the KICK Sauber F1 Team—signals she’s on the radar of the right people. Whether she stays stateside or eventually ventures back to Europe, one thing’s clear: Emma Scarbrough is building her career brick by brick, and she’s not in a hurry to compromise.
