GRRL! SUMMARY:
- CARRIE SCHREINER and teammate Alain Valente delivered Land Motorsport’s best qualifying of the season at Spielberg, earning fifth place despite challenging wet conditions and increased competition from guest starters. However, their promising position was immediately compromised when officials slapped their Audi with an additional 15kg BoP penalty after the strong qualifying performance, turning what should have been an advantage into a significant handicap for race day.
- The birthday girl’s weekend took a turn for the worse during Sunday’s race when a desperate Lamborghini driver made a reckless dive-bomb move into Turn 3, ramming SCHREINER and spinning her damaged Audi to the back of the field. The contact penalty handed to the Lamborghini was laughably inadequate – just three laps – nowhere near enough to drop him behind the delayed Audi, leaving the team to wonder what exactly constitutes appropriate punishment for wrecking someone’s race.
- Despite the setback, SCHREINER showed her fighting spirit by defending aggressively against the same Lamborghini before the contact, keeping him stuck behind her for multiple laps as he struggled to find a clean overtaking opportunity. After the incident, Valente took over and proved the car’s pace was genuine, matching lap times with the leaders and systematically hunting down the field, closing a 10-second gap to just 1.5 seconds before running out of time – a performance that highlighted what could have been.
