When I went through the dunes for the first time in Morocco, it was one of the best moments I’ve ever experienced. A lot of people are afraid of the dunes. But when you are in a car with a good driver that you trust, it is the most amazing thing, almost like a magic moment.

French navigator Delphine Delfino refused to sit at home while her husband Max competed in rally raids—so she grabbed a seat in the car herself and became one of rally-raid’s most prolific co-drivers, tackling an impressive fifteen events in a single season.
EARLY YEARS
Born February 8, 1979, in the French countryside, Delphine Delfino developed a passion for four-wheeled adventures from an early age[1]. Growing up, driving wasn’t just a necessity—it was woven into the fabric of her childhood. Weekend picnics with her mother and cross-continental trips meant time behind the wheel, and those miles sparked something that would shape her future[2]. The open road became her playground, and the idea of staying still never quite suited her.
OTHER INTERESTS
When she’s not strapped into a rally car navigating brutal desert terrain, Delfino can be found hiking with her husband Max. The couple has tackled adventures like trekking among Mount Kilimanjaro, proving that their shared love of exploration extends well beyond motorsport[3]. A passionate athlete through and through, Delphine brings that same adventurous spirit to every challenge she faces, whether on dunes or mountain trails.
EARLY SUCCESS
Delphine’s rally-raid journey began in 2018 at the Balkan Offroad Rally, where she made her competitive debut[4]. The decision to start racing came from a place of partnership—she couldn’t see herself waiting at home for Max while he competed as a rally driver, so she decided she wanted the adventure too[5]. That first event opened the door to a world she’d been craving, and from there, the Dakar Rally became her ultimate goal. She understood the magnitude of the challenge and the commitment required, but that only made her more determined[6].
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2018: Made her rally-raid debut at the Balkan Offroad Rally[7].
- 2022: Competed in the Dakar Rally in the Classic category with driver Gilles Girousse in a Mercedes-Benz Koro[8].
- 2023: Returned to the Dakar Rally, this time in a Can-Am MMP[9].
- 2024: Competed in an astonishing fifteen rallies in a single year, establishing herself as one of the most active navigators in rally-raid[10]. Also competed in the Dakar Rally with a Century CR6[11]. Competed in the Hungarian Baja with British driver Paul Severn in a Polaris RZR Pro R, finishing 8th overall and 2nd in the SSV class[12]. Won the TransAnatolia Rally in the SSV category with Paul Severn, taking 1st overall[13]. Finished fourth overall at the Qatar International Baja in a Nasser Racing Team Taurus T3, topping the Challenger standings with Paul Severn[14].
- 2025: Competed in the Dakar Rally with driver Jean-Luc Ceccaldi, continuing her impressive run of consecutive Dakar appearances[15]. Also competed another fifteen rallies throughout the season[16].
INSPIRATIONS
Her mother planted the earliest seeds of her passion during those countryside drives and weekend picnics—moments that turned into formative experiences behind the wheel[17]. Max, her husband and fellow rally competitor, has been both her partner in life and her gateway into the sport. Watching him race sparked something she couldn’t ignore, and rather than being left behind, she chose to carve her own path alongside him[18].
REPUTATION
Delfino has built a reputation as an experienced and incredibly dedicated navigator in the rally-raid world[19]. Competing in fourteen to fifteen events per year—both in 2024 and 2025—she’s become known for her relentless work ethic and her ability to jump between different drivers and teams with ease[20]. Whether she’s navigating for her husband Max, teaming up with British driver Paul Severn, or guiding Jean-Luc Ceccaldi through the Dakar sands, Delphine brings consistency and grit. She’s earned her spot among the rally-raid community as someone who shows up, gets the job done, and never backs down from a challenge.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
In 2026, Delphine returned to the Dakar Rally once again, this time partnering with French driver Gauthier Honvault in the SSV class for the Solurent team, competing in a BRP Can-Am Maverick R[21]. With multiple Dakar appearances under her belt and a schedule that consistently includes over a dozen rallies per year, she shows no signs of slowing down. The goal remains the same: keep pushing, keep racing, and keep reaching the finish line.
