Rachel's bio:

Rachel Meyer claimed her place in drag racing history by winning the 2021 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Dragster Championship—making her family’s third consecutive championship in the category and establishing herself as NHRA’s winningest and fastest Sportsman female racer.

EARLY YEARS

Born April 4th, Rachel Meyer was immersed in drag racing from her first breath. Her father, Randy Meyer, is a legendary Top Alcohol Dragster driver with over 40 years and 100-plus victories in the sport. Her earliest memories were Friday and Saturday nights at the track, watching her dad compete while learning the language of horsepower and reaction times before she could even spell them. In 2004, when Rachel was just eight years old, she and her older sister Megan began their own racing careers piloting Junior Dragsters. It was a family affair from the start—Randy Meyer Racing had officially expanded to include the next generation, and both sisters were hungry to prove they belonged behind the wheel.

OTHER INTERESTS

Being a great student in math, Rachel earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering and Technology from Pittsburg State University in 2017, with an emphasis in design and a minor in Business Administration. Today, she works as a product developer when she’s not at the track. And if racing Top Alcohol Dragsters wasn’t enough of a challenge, she also pulls double duty between rounds—servicing the clutch and handling numerous other driver duties alongside her dad and the crew. She’s not just driving the car; she’s building it, tuning it, and making sure it gets down the track in one piece.

EARLY SUCCESS

Rachel raced Junior Dragsters for a full decade, competing in approximately 100 events and racking up multiple wins and runner-up finishes. In 2012, after years of honing her skills in the junior ranks, she moved up to Top Alcohol Dragster and began pursuing her NHRA license. The transition wasn’t immediate—it took time, seat time, and a whole lot of guts to master a machine capable of covering a quarter-mile in just over five seconds at nearly 280 mph. But by the time she was ready to compete at the national level, Rachel had already proven she could handle the pressure. In 2017, she finished as runner-up at the Topeka race, giving her a taste of what it felt like to stand on the edge of victory. She wanted more.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2020: Won the NHRA Central Region Championship on the strength of two wins and a runner-up finish, racing on a part-time basis[1][2].
  • 2021: Stepped into her sister Megan’s two-time championship-winning NTK Sensors Top Alcohol Dragster after Megan decided to step back, and immediately made it her own[3][4].
  • 2021: Scored her first national event victory at the 52nd annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, defeating Jackie Fricke in the final with a 5.22 to 5.29 pass[5][6].
  • 2021: Won the Charlotte NGK NTK 4-Wide Nationals and the Houston Spring Nationals, building momentum toward her championship run[7].
  • 2021: Competed in a full 16-race NHRA tour, accumulating over 733 points and winning both the Central Region Championship and the National Championship[8][9].
  • 2021: Clinched her first Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Dragster World Championship in dramatic fashion at the Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, defeating Jackie Fricke in a winner-take-all final round[10][11].
  • 2021: Became the third member of the Meyer family to win a Top Alcohol Dragster championship, following her father Randy and sister Megan—marking three consecutive titles for Randy Meyer Racing[12].
  • Career: Earned six wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and currently holds the record as NHRA’s winningest and fastest Sportsman female racer[13].
  • Career: Powered the GUNK Top Alcohol Dragster to victory at Dragway 42 in her first IHRA Nationals win during the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series[14].
  • Career: Faced off against sister Megan in multiple final rounds, including a dramatic sibling showdown at No Problem Raceway, where Rachel took the win[15].

INSPIRATIONS

Rachel’s greatest inspiration has always been her family. Growing up watching her father Randy dominate in Top Alcohol Dragster and seeing her sister Megan break barriers as the first woman to win a Top Alcohol Dragster championship in 2019 gave her both a roadmap and a challenge. The Meyer family doesn’t just race together—they live and breathe the sport, supporting each other through every round, every win, and every heartbreak. Drag racing, for Rachel, has always been about more than trophies. It’s about legacy, family, and proving that the Meyer name means something on the track.

REPUTATION

Rachel Meyer is respected not just for her driving talent, but for her work ethic and technical knowledge. She’s one of the rare drivers who can tear down a clutch between rounds, make the necessary adjustments, and then strap in and run a five-second pass like it’s no big deal. Her peers know she’s not just riding her father’s tune-up or her family’s reputation—she’s earned every win, every championship, and every bit of respect she’s received. The NHRA community recognizes her as part of a groundbreaking wave of female champions, and her name is now etched alongside legends in the sport. As one of 23 women to have won an NHRA world championship, Rachel has made it clear that she’s not done yet.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Following her 2021 championship, Rachel made the decision to scale back her racing schedule to focus on family life after getting married, with the possibility of starting a family on the horizon. But don’t mistake that for retirement—she’s made it clear that she’ll always want to race something. In 2025, Rachel continues to compete in select IHRA Nitro Outlaw Series events alongside her sister Megan, with the Meyer sisters continuing their family’s legacy at tracks like Milan Dragway. She’s still chasing wins, still pulling double duty as driver and crew member, and still proving that when you grow up a Meyer, racing isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are.
