Diana Hategan is a Romanian motorsport racer who made history as the first female driver to compete in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, while balancing her passion for racing with advocacy for women in motorsports.
EARLY YEARS
Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Diana grew up immersed in her city’s growing motorsports culture. Her father, a mechanic with a passion for vintage cars, introduced her to automotive mechanics early, often involving her in weekend projects restoring old vehicles. This hands-on exposure fostered her curiosity for engines and speed.
EARLY SUCCESS
Diana’s racing journey began at age 6 when her family attended a local karting event. “I begged my parents for a kart after that—I wanted to be the one everyone watched,” she later recalled in an interview. By 8, she was already competing in regional junior karting leagues, balancing her education with weekend races across Eastern Europe. These formative experiences in karting launched what would become an impressive professional racing career.
