Natasha's bio:

Natasha Chang—known in the racing world as “Chiney Dolly”—is a Jamaican race car driver, Guinness World Record holder, model, and radio personality who’s become one of the Caribbean’s most consistent and trailblazing female motorsports competitors.

EARLY YEARS

Born in Florida to a Puerto Rican mother and Asian father, Chang moved to Jamaica at a young age and immediately fell in love with the island. Her passion for cars didn’t come from watching races on TV—it came from her grandfather, a classic car enthusiast who collected and restored Jaguars. Their favorite bonding time? Driving the coast from one side of the island to the other in those beautifully restored machines. That’s where the bug bit, and it bit hard.

A graduate of St. Andrew High School, Chang was a self-described tomboy who spent her younger years competing in video games like Counter-Strike, Warcraft, and later DotA and HoN. The competitive spirit was always there—she just needed the right outlet. And when she found motorsports, everything clicked.

OTHER INTERESTS

Beyond the track, Chang built a career as a model and radio personality, proving she could shift gears between industries as smoothly as she could shift through a race car’s transmission. She also worked on a Rally Jamaica television program featured on Hype TV and Sportmax, bringing her love of motorsports to audiences who might never set foot on a racetrack.

EARLY SUCCESS

Chang started her motorsports career in 2006 racing go-karts for Jetcon Racing. She quickly graduated to dexterity racing and circuit competition, making a name for herself in a sport where women were—and still are—few and far between. In 2008, she bought her first race car: an RWD Corolla DX. That same year, she won several dexterity events and a Dover racing event, establishing herself as someone who could actually drive, not just show up.

By 2012, she was piloting a hi-tech 1.8-liter Honda Civic and later a Honda S2000, turning heads both for her skill and her willingness to go toe-to-toe with anyone on the track. She raced in various categories and worked her way up through Formula Fords and other competitive series under the Jetcon Race Team banner.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2008: Won several Dexterity racing events and a Dover racing event[1].
  • 2013: Became the first Jamaican female to compete in the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) in the Group category[2].
  • 2013: First woman to race on the full two-kilometer track in Guyana in her hi-tech 1.8-liter Honda Civic, earning recognition as the most consistent female Caribbean driver[3].
  • 2019: Set the Guinness World Record for the fastest ascent of Doi Chang mountain road by car in Chiang Rai, Thailand, completing the 1,000-meter climb in 6 minutes and 52.962 seconds in a 28-year-old Honda Civic[4].
  • Named to Yeah! Motor website’s ranking of the 25 Most Beautiful Race Car Drivers in the World at Number 8[5].

INSPIRATIONS

Her grandfather was her first and most enduring inspiration—the man who taught her that cars weren’t just machines, they were passion projects, works of art, and gateways to freedom. Those coastal drives in restored Jaguars weren’t just joyrides; they were masterclasses in what it means to truly love what you do.

REPUTATION

Chang earned her nickname “Chiney Dolly” and a reputation as a fierce competitor who could dance with cars the way most people danced with partners. Fans and fellow racers alike described her and her machine as “a formidable pair,” and the carnival-like atmosphere that followed her races proved she knew how to put on a show. She’s broken barriers as the first Jamaican woman in CMRC and the first woman to tackle Guyana’s full circuit, all while maintaining her position as the Caribbean’s most consistent female driver.

Her six-minute record-breaking run up Doi Chang mountain was featured on National Geographic’s *Record Rides*, a two-part television series produced in partnership with Chevron (parent company of Caltex) and Guinness World Records. She competed against KC Montero to become the fastest driver to complete the climb in a production car—and she won.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Now residing in Florida, Chang has been on a racing break but still owns her Honda S2000 race car. She’s expressed plans to get back into circuit racing, proving that even world record holders need time to recharge before the next big challenge.
