GRRL! SUMMARY:
- COURTNEY CRONE delivered a breakthrough weekend at Circuit of the Americas, securing her first-ever IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge GSX podiums with back-to-back second-place finishes. The double podium launched her into second in the championship standings and proved her transition from F1 Academy to GT4 machinery is paying serious dividends. Her CarBahn Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 showed front-running pace all weekend, with CRONE consistently running just behind class leader Westin Workman while pulling away from the rest of the field by massive margins.
- The American’s speed was evident from the opening practice sessions, where she topped second practice and qualified on the front row for both races. In Race 1, she briefly led the GSX class before settling into second and building a comfortable gap over third place while staying within striking distance of the leader. Race 2 saw similar dominance as CRONE built a nearly minute advantage over the chasing pack, demonstrating the kind of consistency that wins championships.
- What makes CRONE’s performance even more impressive is that this represents just her second weekend back in GT racing and her first experience in GT4 machinery, despite previous IMSA experience in LMP3. Her transition from single-seaters to sports cars appears seamless, with lap times consistently in the 1:40s proving she’s already mastered the BMW’s capabilities. With momentum clearly building and the speed to challenge for wins, we should expect CRONE to be a championship contender when the series resumes at Mid-Ohio in June.
