MAITE CÁCERES Returns to RAFA Racing for Full 2026 Toyota GR Cup Campaign

• MAITE CÁCERES is returning to RAFA Racing Team for her second sports car season, this time competing in the full 2026 Toyota GR Cup Series North America campaign. The 23-year-old Uruguayan gained valuable experience in 2025 with a partial MX-5 Cup season, where despite running only four of seven rounds, she recorded an 11th-place personal best and two top-20 finishes while adapting from her single-seater background.
• The transition from formula cars to sports cars has required CÁCERES to completely rethink her approach, particularly learning techniques like bump drafting that are forbidden in open-wheel racing. She’s banking on the expertise of teammates Tyler Gonzalez and Westin Workman, plus team owner Kevin Conway, to help decode the nuances of GT-style racing as she tackles unfamiliar tracks in the 14-race, seven-round championship.
• CÁCERES brings serious credentials to this challenge, having scored the first female podium finishes in the Ligier Junior Formula Championship in 2024 en route to third in points, plus experience from F1 Academy’s inaugural season in 2023. The season kicks off March 13-15 on the demanding Arlington Street Circuit, setting up what could be a breakout campaign for Uruguay’s rising motorsport talent in North American sports car competition.
