Jordan's bio:

Jordan Rand is an American racer, model, and advocate who came to competitive motorsport through motorcycle track days and found her way into electric scooter racing by way of figure skating, a track-and-field scholarship, and a dealership employee who followed her home on her first bike.

EARLY YEARS

Born in Germany and raised in Colorado Springs, Rand grew up as a competitive figure skater — setting her alarm for 4 a.m. to practise before school — before pivoting to track and field when she learned figure skating carried no college scholarships. [1][2] She earned a full scholarship in long and triple jump, moved to New York for college, and studied psychology in Manhattan, though the name of her college has not been documented publicly. [2][3]

The motorcycle came after the move. She bought her first bike in New York primarily as transport — she had never ridden and held no licence at the time. A dealership employee showed her the basics and followed her home on that first ride. The bike was a 250cc. [4][3] What happened next was, by her own account, immediate and total: “I got bit, and I just became obsessed with it. I started doing track days, started doing racing schools and just really got stuck in.” [3]

At her first track day, an instructor pulled her aside. “I remember my instructor was like, you’re pretty good at this would you want to consider racing?” [3] She had not considered it a possibility — she felt she had come to riding too late. But the question stuck.

OTHER INTERESTS

Rand describes modelling and content creation as central pillars of her professional life alongside racing. She connects all three to a common thread: self-expression through movement, something she traces back to figure skating. [3][4] She has been direct about the limits she sets in modelling work, saying she has turned down brands that would not commit to genuine diversity or allow her to wear her natural hair. [4]

She is also an environmental campaigner. Her eSkootr Championship profile notes that she planned to sell her Ducati in favour of an electric bike, a decision in keeping with her broader advocacy around sustainability. [1] She trains for racing with a focus on arm, leg, and core strength, and uses reaction-time exercises with an athlete fitness company — a training approach she discussed with Motorsport Magazine ahead of the inaugural eSkootr season. [4]

EARLY SUCCESS

Rand’s entry into electric scooter racing came when the eSkootr Championship sought athletes from other sports disciplines. Her background in figure skating, track and field, and motorcycle riding made the crossover a natural fit. [3] The format appealed to her for reasons that went beyond speed: she told Motorsport Magazine that eSkootr aimed to make racing accessible to competitors without wealthy backgrounds, and that it was built with gender and racial diversity as stated priorities — a contrast, she said, with series she described as prohibitively expensive to enter. [4]

In 2021, she competed at a prototype event at Circuit Paul Ricard, where a third-place finish was reported by Glorious Sport; the precise classification basis for that result was not specified. [5] The following year she competed in the inaugural eSkootr Championship season with Helbiz Racing, entering five races. A seventh place at the Marseille round was reported by the same outlet. [5][1] The championship’s own profile for Rand lists zero podiums across her five race entries, and the discrepancy between that record and the reported Paul Ricard result has not been formally resolved. [1]

What is not in dispute is what the format meant to her as a competitive environment. She praised eSkootr specifically for placing men and women on an equal playing field, and said that watching women win within that structure demonstrated what becomes possible when the opportunity exists. [3]

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2021: Third place reported at the eSkootr prototype event at Circuit Paul Ricard (classification basis unspecified). [5]
  • 2022: Competed in the inaugural eSkootr Championship season with Helbiz Racing, entering five races. [1]
  • 2022: Seventh place reported at the Marseille round of the eSkootr Championship (classification basis unspecified). [5]

INSPIRATIONS

Rand has named Lewis Hamilton as a particular inspiration, pointing to his representation of people of colour in motorsport and his choice to wear a Pride flag on his helmet. [3] She has also named Bianca Bustamante and Alba Larsen, along with women competing in the F1 Academy, as figures she looks to. [3] The throughline is visibility: she has said that young girls need to see women racing to be able to imagine themselves doing it. [3]

REPUTATION

Ducati recognises Rand as a Racing Pride ambassador and notes that she uses her platform to champion women and LGBTQ inclusion in motorsport. [3] Her eSkootr Championship profile states her position plainly in her own words: “I want to advocate for women, people of colour and, as I’m bisexual, I’m going to race with a rainbow flag on my helmet to advocate for LBGTQ+.” [1]

She has spoken candidly about the microaggressions that come with being a woman in motorcycle culture — comments framing her ability as surprising “for a girl” — and says she now makes a point of challenging and educating people when those moments arise rather than letting them pass. [3] The rainbow flag on her helmet is not incidental. It is part of a deliberate, public-facing commitment to representation that runs through her racing, her modelling, and her advocacy work simultaneously.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Rand has expressed a desire to see a MotoGP Academy for women, describing the prospect as “amazing.” [3] She has also spoken about personal projects combining fashion and motorcycles, and has looked forward to organising a women’s ride with Ducati, though the timing of those plans was not specified in the source material.
