Alex McDonald is a grassroots motorcycle racer from Bumpus, Tennessee, who trades paint in the high-octane world of flat track and hooligan racing. After years of watching from the sidelines, she finally jumped into the fray and proved she belonged with a race win at Flat Out Friday.
EARLY YEARS
Growing up literally on two wheels wasn’t a choice for Alex—it was destiny. Raised in a motorcycle dealership, she got her first dirt bike at age five and spent her childhood immersed in everything mechanical and motorized. The dealership wasn’t just her family’s business; it was her playground, her classroom, and the launching pad for what would become an undeniable passion for racing. As she puts it, “I have literally grew up on a bike… I was raised in a dealership so it was a foregone conclusion. But luckily, I love it.”

EARLY SUCCESS
Alex’s racing journey began around 2020 when she decided she couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer while her husband tore up the hooligan racing scene. Starting in flat track racing, she quickly learned that the sport doesn’t coddle newcomers—she got lapped by an 8-year-old in one of her early races. But instead of backing down, she used it as fuel. The learning curve was steep, but Alex embraced the unpredictable nature of grassroots racing, where anything can happen and often does.
