FULL BIO: Jasmin Preisig
Jasmin Preisig is a Swiss touring car and endurance racing driver who has carved out a reputation as one of the most promising female talents in German motorsport, progressing from karting prodigy to Volkswagen brand ambassador with multiple wins across various series.
EARLY YEARS
Born on July 17, 1992, in Schwellbrunn, canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, Jasmin grew up in a racing family where motorsport wasn’t just a hobby—it was a way of life. Her father Walter Preisig was already making his mark in mountain and circuit races, and it didn’t take long for his daughter to catch the bug. By age nine, she was behind the wheel of a go-kart, and what started as family fun quickly became serious business. Jasmin methodically worked her way through every level of karting, including the European Championship and World Finales, laying the groundwork for what would become a stellar racing career.
OTHER INTERESTS
While racing clearly dominates her life, Jasmin is described as a businesswoman by trade, though the specifics of her business ventures remain private. Like many professional drivers, she keeps her non-racing interests largely out of the spotlight, preferring to let her on-track performance do the talking.
EARLY SUCCESS
The transition from karts to cars came in 2012 with a guest appearance in the Chevrolet Cruze Cup—a baptism by fire that would set the tone for her methodical approach to career progression. In 2013, she tackled the Opel Astra OPC Cup in Germany, immediately showing promise with a notable sixth-place finish in a six-hour endurance race. The learning curve was steep, but Jasmin proved she could handle whatever the track threw at her, including a dramatic crash at Hockenheim in 2017 that required her to be cut from the car—she walked away uninjured, a testament to both modern safety technology and her own resilience. By 2014, Volkswagen had taken notice, selecting her for a scholarship drive in the Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup, where her best finish was eleventh at the Nürburgring. The following year brought her first real breakthrough: third overall in the OPC Astra Cup with one second-place finish, proving she belonged among the series’ top competitors.

INSPIRATIONS
Walter Preisig isn’t just Jasmin’s father—he’s her primary inspiration and the reason she fell in love with racing in the first place. Watching him compete in mountain and circuit races from a young age gave her an up-close view of what dedication to motorsport really looks like, and his influence shaped not just her career choice but her approach to racing itself.
REPUTATION
In the paddock, Jasmin has earned respect as a hard but fair driver who brings both speed and professionalism to every series she enters. Her progression through the ranks has been methodical rather than meteoric, but that steady improvement has caught the attention of Volkswagen, who signed her as a brand ambassador in 2018. Media coverage consistently portrays her as one of the most promising female talents in German touring car racing, with particular praise for her versatility in endurance events. Her involvement with the “Girls Only” VLN team demonstrates her commitment to supporting other women in motorsport, while her consistent podium finishes—26 out of 83 starts—speak to her ability to perform when it matters. The fact that she’s managed to carve out a successful career in the ultra-competitive German touring car scene, where talent is abundant and opportunities are scarce, says everything about her skill level and determination.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
As of 2016, Jasmin stated that “TCR is my future,” and she’s continued to focus on touring car and endurance racing with Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing in the 24H Series. While specific plans for 2025 and beyond haven’t been publicly announced, her continued involvement in high-level endurance racing suggests she’s building toward even bigger opportunities in international motorsport.
