GRRL! SUMMARY:
- KATHERINE LEGGE returns to Pikes Peak for her second climb, this time piloting the Acura Integra Type S DE5 in the brutally competitive Time Attack 1 division. After clocking 10m51.359s in her 2024 rookie run – just three seconds off the front-wheel-drive record – the IndyCar, IMSA and NASCAR veteran has her sights set on Nick Robinson’s 2018 mark of 10m48.094s.
- The mountain clearly got under her skin, with LEGGE admitting she’s “never felt so alive” as she does on Pikes Peak, calling it “the scariest, craziest thing you will ever do.” That kind of raw honesty about the psychological challenge separates the real racers from the weekend warriors – and explains why she’s one of only six women taking on this year’s 103rd running.
- HRC’s Integra Type S DE5 brings serious hardware to the fight, with a modified 2.0-liter turbo K20C8 engine pumping out over 360hp through a 6-speed sequential paddle-shift transmission. The race-spec chassis strips away street components for a purpose-built shell with safety cage, aero upgrades and cooling systems – the same platform that dominated SRO TC America with six wins in its debut season.
