GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • LENA KNÖTZL made an impressive season debut at her home track Red Bull Ring, securing second place in Class 21 of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse. The Austrian driver, competing for MS Racing in the Open GT group, demonstrated she belongs with the front-runners by consistently finishing in the top 6 during Friday practice sessions and establishing herself as a class contender from the start.
  • Qualifying showed KNÖTZL’s raw pace as she battled through a competitive 25-minute Group 1 session, ultimately securing P5 in her group with a 1:32.057 lap time that put her just 0.284 seconds behind the leader. Her ninth overall starting position and fifth in class set up what would become a masterclass in racecraft and positioning during a chaotic first race of the weekend.
  • The race itself was a testament to KNÖTZL’s wheel-to-wheel skills, as she gained three overall positions and moved up to second in class after an excellent start, then expertly navigated two safety car periods while defending her position. Despite the disruptions, she maintained her class podium position through strong defensive driving and restart execution, proving her experience in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup since 2022 continues to pay dividends in competitive situations.
