GRRL! SUMMARY:
- GRACIE MITCHELL delivered a masterclass first stint at Jarama, launching from third to GTX class lead by lap 3 and building a commanding 3-second gap before pit stops. Despite a 5-second handicap dropping her team to second, she proved her pace translates beyond her debut win last season. Her weekend ended in heartbreak when mechanical issues forced retirement from a podium position in Race 2, but she’s clearly established herself as a GTX title contender.
- ALBA VÁZQUEZ continues her phenomenal rookie GT campaign with another podium finish, inheriting third place when a rival’s BMW encountered issues on the final lap. After switching from touring cars to GTs last year, she’s now collected three podiums in four races, including a debut win at Portimão. Even a Turn 1 gravel excursion in Race 2 couldn’t stop her recovery drive to fourth place, showcasing the racecraft that has her atop the GTX standings.
- The Spanish ace leads the GTX championship with 65 points alongside teammate Alfonso Colomina Fajardo in their McLaren 570S GT4, while MITCHELL sits fourth with 47 points despite the DNF. Both drivers proved their qualifying pace too, with MITCHELL securing fourth in Q1 and VÁZQUEZ improving to fourth in Q2 after strategic session management from their respective teams.
