GRRL! SUMMARY:
- Three women delivered when it mattered most at Watkins Glen, with MADDIE AUST claiming eighth, MEGAN TOMLINSON ninth, and two-time champion TAYLOR HAGLER marking her series return with tenth place. AUST and rookie co-driver Suellio Almeida secured another impressive top-ten result in their Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai, while HAGLER showed she hasn’t lost a step after time away from TCR competition, immediately finding pace in practice and qualifying 12th before her teammate Mark Wilkins helped secure the final top-ten spot.
- TOMLINSON’s ninth-place finish was pure grit after an early-race penalty for contact with Riley Pegram at the Bus Stop chicane threatened to derail her weekend. The penalty dropped her down the order, but she and co-driver Ron fought back through consistent pace and strategic pit work to claim their fourth top-ten of the season. Meanwhile, HAGLER’s return performance proved she’s ready to pick up where she left off – the former champion was immediately competitive in practice, posting times within a second of the class leaders and running in the 1:59s during her race stint.
- The weekend showcased the depth of female talent in TCR, with six women taking the green flag including rookie AUST, returning champion HAGLER, and CHRISTINA LAM making her comeback after Mid-Ohio struggles. While LAM’s Rockwell Autosport Audi suffered fuel pump issues that ended her race early, and Riley Pegram’s promising recovery drive was cut short by mechanical failure, the triple top-ten finish sends a clear message about what we’re building in this series – and it’s not going unnoticed.
