GRRL! musings:
Okay, GRRL! admits this one is a shocker. Brittany has not had the win results she’s used to but she’s set three – THREE – fastest runs of all time this year, and owns 8 of the top 9 fastest speeds in history. Guess this is what they refer to as going out on top. Thank you, Brittany, for the incredible run of world-class performance!
GRRL! SUMMARY:
- BRITTANY FORCE announced she’ll step away from full-time NHRA competition after the 2025 season to start a family with husband Bobby Lyson. The two-time Top Fuel champion made the announcement ahead of this weekend’s NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, calling it a “difficult and bittersweet decision” after 13 years with John Force Racing. She’s not completely closing the door on future racing, emphasizing her deep love for the sport while prioritizing this new chapter in her life.
- Known as “The Queen of Speed,” FORCE owns an absolutely stacked resume that puts her among the greatest Top Fuel drivers ever. She holds nine of the top 10 fastest runs in Top Fuel history, including her world record 343.51 mph run at Indianapolis last weekend. With 18 victories in 39 final-round appearances and 56 No. 1 qualifying spots, she became the first woman to win a Top Fuel title since Shirley Muldowney in 1982 when she claimed her first championship in 2017.
- Even in what she’s calling her final season, FORCE remains a serious championship contender. She sits fifth in points, just 56 behind leader Tony Stewart entering the six-race Countdown to the Championship. With one victory and four No. 1 qualifying positions this season, she’s proving that stepping away at the top of your game is exactly how legends should exit – though we’re holding out hope that “not closing the door” means exactly what it sounds like.
