DYSTANY SPURLOCK Finishes 7th in Historic NASCAR-Affiliated Series Debut

• DYSTANY SPURLOCK made history as the first Black woman in a NASCAR-affiliated series, transitioning from NHRA motorcycle drag racing to finish 7th at Hickory Speedway’s challenging ARCA Menards race despite facing racist and homophobic harassment online.
• SPURLOCK exceeded her modest goal of just finishing, crediting her car’s speed for recovering from mistakes through turns. She’ll next compete at Rockingham Speedway while maintaining her full-time NHRA ride throughout 2026.
• Despite facing dual barriers as a Black woman in motorsports, SPURLOCK earned her opportunity through Skip Barber Racing School training and support from Foxxtecca co-founder Chris Harris, who believed in her potential as a unicorn talent.
• SPURLOCK races to inspire young Black girls who see no female representation at NASCAR’s national level, contrasting with male drivers like Bubba Wallace, Rajah Caruth, and Lavar Scott who’ve recently increased diversity in the sport.
