GRRL! SUMMARY:
- We got proper results to celebrate as both KATHARINA LIPPKA and KATJA THOMAS claimed class victories in their respective BMWs despite starting from the back of the grid. Lippka, making her NLS comeback after racing in the RCN series, held her class lead throughout the race and expressed genuine excitement about returning to where she learned the Nürburgring – exactly the kind of authentic passion that makes women’s racing coverage worth following.
- MIKI KOYAMA was sitting pretty in fourth place in SP8T class with 90 minutes to go when contact on the Döttinger Höhe sent her Toyota into lengthy repairs, dropping her from podium contention to last in class. It’s the kind of late-race heartbreak that stings, especially when you’ve spent three hours building toward a strong result in what’s arguably motorsport’s most demanding venue.
- The Eifel weather chaos that shortened the race to 4.5 hours actually worked in favor of our protagonists – the fog-delayed qualifying mixed up the grid enough that starting position became more about timing than pure pace. Sometimes we need a little chaos to level the playing field, and both Lippka and Thomas made the most of their opportunities to climb from the back to class victories.
