SHEENA MONK’s Clean Sebring Drive Ruined by Late Contact in Ferrari GTD Run

March 18, 2025

GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • SHEENA MONK delivered another signature clean and consistent performance at Sebring, even leading the GTD class during pit cycles and showing steady improvement with her new JG Wentworth Ferrari 296 GT3. Her mistake-free driving and skillful traffic management kept the #021 Triarsi Competizione entry in contention for a top-ten finish throughout the 12-hour endurance race, proving she’s quickly adapting to the Ferrari after her previous IMSA campaigns in the Acura NSX GT3.
  • The cruel pattern of late-race heartbreak continued for MONK and her teammates Stevan McAleer and Mike Skeen, as contact from a lapped car in the final hour knocked them off course and forced an unscheduled pit stop that dropped them from contention. This marked the second consecutive race where the trio ran competitively on the lead lap only to be eliminated by contact in the closing stages—following their Daytona 24 Hours disappointment where they were running at the front of GTD before similar late contact ended their day.
  • Despite the frustrating results, MONK’s development with the Ferrari 296 GT3 shows clear progress, with the team posting a second-place finish in Practice 2 and qualifying eighth in an extremely tight GTD field. Her consistent pace throughout her driving stints—including periods where she was the fastest bronze-rated driver—demonstrates that the speed for podium finishes is there. The team will look to break their streak of bad luck at Long Beach, where MONK and McAleer scored a fourth-place finish last year that they’ll aim to improve upon.
