FULL BIO: Aimee Watts
Aimée Watts is a British racing driver who’s carved out her place in the MX-5 racing scene and beyond, following in the tire tracks of her championship-winning father while proving she’s got the skills to make her own mark on the motorsports world.
EARLY YEARS
Born on August 21, 1994, in Kent, United Kingdom, Aimée grew up breathing exhaust fumes and hearing the roar of engines thanks to her father, who happened to be the inaugural MX-5 SuperCup Champion. While most kids were playing with dolls or video games, she was getting an education in racecraft from someone who knew how to win. This early immersion into motorsport culture set the stage for what would become her own racing journey, though she’d have to prove herself in a world that still raises eyebrows when women show up ready to race.
OTHER INTERESTS
Like many racers who keep their personal lives close to the vest, details about Aimée’s interests outside of motorsports remain largely private. What we do know is that racing seems to consume most of her focus and energy.
EARLY SUCCESS
Watts began making her mark in MX-5 racing series by 2019, competing primarily in the Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 Supercup and MSVR Miata Trophy. Her early career showed the influence of her racing heritage, but she quickly proved she wasn’t just riding on her father’s reputation. Racing under the Patrick Watts Racing banner, she demonstrated the kind of consistency and racecraft that catches attention in the paddock.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2023: Finished 6th overall in Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 Supercup Club Class with 4 podiums and 1 fastest lap across 21 races[2].
- 2023: HRDC Class Champion in ’64 Mini historic class[5].
- 2024: Successfully transitioned to historic racing at Brands Hatch in the Sanwa Trophy for Pre-1966 Historic Minis, achieving two top-15 finishes with a best result of 12th place[1].
- 2025: Currently competing in Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain Am category, sitting 6th in points after 16 races[2][3].
INSPIRATIONS
The biggest influence on Aimée’s racing career is undeniably her father, whose success as the inaugural MX-5 SuperCup Champion provided both inspiration and a roadmap for navigating the motorsports world. Growing up in a household where racing was the family business gave her an insider’s perspective on what it takes to compete and win, though she’s had to prove that talent runs in the family rather than just relying on the name.
REPUTATION
Watts has earned recognition for her overtaking skills and racecraft, particularly noted during her historic racing performances. Her ability to adapt between different types of cars—from rear-wheel-drive MX-5s to front-wheel-drive historic Minis to modern Porsche machinery—showcases versatility that impresses fellow competitors. She’s built a reputation as someone who shows up prepared and ready to race hard, earning respect in the paddock as a driver who belongs there on merit, not just because of her last name.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Currently focused on her 2025 campaign in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain Am category, where she’s proving her adaptability by transitioning from MX-5 and historic racing to modern Porsche GT machinery. While she hasn’t publicly outlined specific long-term goals, her progression through different racing series suggests an ambition to continue climbing the motorsports ladder and establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with across multiple disciplines.
