FULL BIO: Anabel Kennedy
Annabel Kennedy is an Australian motorsports racer who has rapidly ascended from karting to single-seaters, becoming the first female to achieve a podium finish in the Indian F4 Championship. The Queensland-based teenager has her sights set firmly on Formula 1, following a pathway that’s already seen her represent Australia internationally and break barriers for women in motorsport.
EARLY YEARS
Born around 2009 or 2010, Kennedy’s racing journey began at age 9-10 when she first tried a hire kart at Slideways on the Gold Coast. What started as casual fun quickly evolved into something more serious—she progressed to monthly race days and joined Ipswich Karting Club in 2019. Growing up in Queensland gave her access to quality karting facilities, and it’s clear someone in her corner recognized raw talent when they saw it.
OTHER INTERESTS
Kennedy keeps her cards close to her chest when it comes to life outside racing. No information is available about other sports, hobbies, or interests—perhaps a sign of someone whose focus is laser-sharp on the track ahead.
EARLY SUCCESS
Kennedy’s karting career took off quickly after joining Ipswich Karting Club. She dominated the KA3 Junior category, winning the Pink Plate—a significant achievement in Australian karting. Not content to rest on her laurels, she repeated the feat when she moved up to KA3 Senior, collecting multiple state-level podiums and heat race wins at the Australian Kart Championship along the way. Her consistency caught the attention of Karting Australia, who selected her for the prestigious FIA Karting Academy Trophy in 2025.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2019-2024: Pink Plate winner in both KA3 Junior and Senior categories
- 2025: 13th overall in FIA Karting Academy Trophy after Portugal round, representing Australia
- 2025: Second place at Ipswich Race of Champions in KA3 Senior class, behind Australian Championship leader Jett Adamson
- 2025: First female to achieve a podium finish in Indian F4 Championship history with third place in Race 1 at Madras
INSPIRATIONS
Kennedy draws inspiration from female-led initiatives in motorsport, particularly mentioning the F1 Academy managed by Susie Wolff as part of her pathway to the top. She’s motivated by the pure rush of competition itself—the adrenaline, speed, and pressure that force peak performance. “I love the feeling I get when I’m racing,” she explains. “The satisfaction after a good result makes it all worth it.”
REPUTATION
In the paddock, Kennedy is regarded as a strong young competitor with consistent performances both nationally and internationally. Her breakthrough podium in Indian F4 has earned positive media coverage emphasizing her role as rising female talent, with some drawing parallels to F1 alumni like Charles Leclerc and George Russell who also progressed through similar pathways. She’s known for her competitiveness and racecraft, with no controversies or disputes clouding her reputation. Kennedy has become a symbol of what’s possible for female racers willing to chase their dreams on the world stage.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Kennedy’s ultimate goal is crystal clear: Formula 1. Her immediate focus is progressing through the F4 series to gain the mandatory single-seater experience required for F1 Academy entry. In 2025, she’s competing in both the FIA Karting Academy Trophy and Indian F4 Championship, with races scheduled at venues including Kari Motor Speedway. “Competing against the best drivers in the world, regardless of gender, is an opportunity I’ve been working toward for years,” she states. It’s not just about personal achievement—Kennedy sees herself as someone who can inspire young female racers to chase their own motorsport dreams.
