I will not water myself down to make anyone comfortable[1].

When I’m riding a bike I’m just literally riding a bike—there’s nothing going on in my head, I’m not a racer so there’s no stress about that, I don’t need to be worried about anything, so just the pure joy of travel and seeing places and is another aspect of it—just riding a bike and being one with the bike[2].

The machine – be it a car or a bike – doesn’t care about your gender. It is about the skill of the rider or the driver[3].

Anushriya Gulati is India’s multi-disciplinary motorsports dynamo from Dehradun who’s conquered everything from track racing to rally championships to setting endurance records on a Harley-Davidson—and she’s doing it all before most of us figure out our career path.

EARLY YEARS

Long before she was tearing up racetracks, Gulati was the kind of kid who couldn’t sit still. She represented India nationally in shooting and Uttarakhand at the state level in basketball—a resume that screams “competitive adrenaline junkie” from the jump. Growing up in Dehradun, she had the kind of all-around athletic prowess that suggested she’d end up doing something extraordinary, though probably no one guessed it would involve a Harley and a helmet.

At 19, she got a Harley-Davidson Street 750 as a birthday gift, and that was it—the girl was gone. Not in the “nice bike, I’ll take it for a spin” way, but in the “I’m about to rack up 100,000 kilometers and become a national record holder” way. That first ride lit a fire that would eventually take her from India’s highways to international racing circuits.

OTHER INTERESTS

Before motorsports took over her life completely, Gulati’s athletic background laid the groundwork for the mental toughness racing demands. Her experience in shooting—a sport requiring laser focus and steady nerves—translated beautifully to the precision needed in competitive racing. Basketball gave her the team mentality and physical conditioning that comes in handy when you’re wrestling a race car around a track or enduring marathon motorcycle rides.

She’s also passionate about advocacy work, particularly around road safety and empowering women in motorsports. As one of the youngest female coaches at the Harley Davidson Riding Academy, she’s made it her mission to get more women on bikes and break down the ridiculous notion that motorcycles are a boys-only club.

EARLY SUCCESS

Gulati’s first major splash came in 2021 at the JK Tyre FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship, where she pulled off a rare double—winning both the LGB-4 Rookie title and the Women’s championship. She dominated the opening round by sweeping up a whopping 46 points, winning three races and making it clear she wasn’t just participating, she was here to collect trophies.

But racing four-wheeled machines was only part of her story. Her Harley obsession reached legendary status when she became the first and only female Harley-Davidson rider in India to clock 100,000 kilometers on her bike. By 2023, she’d pushed that number to 160,000 km, logging rides that included expeditions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari at age 19—a journey designed to raise awareness for saving the girl child. The girl was racking up miles like most people rack up Netflix hours.

In 2022, she set an endurance test record by covering 3,141 kilometers in 24 hours on a Harley-Davidson Sportster S, averaging 130.9 km/hr around Hero MotoCorp’s test tracks. Twenty-four straight hours. That’s not just physical stamina—that’s a whole different level of mental grit.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2021: Won both the LGB-4 Rookie title and Women’s championship at the JK Tyre FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship with Ahura Racing[1].
  • 2022: Set endurance record covering 3,141 km in 24 hours on a Harley-Davidson Sportster S[2].
  • 2022: Won Formula Woman competition, earning a drive in a McLaren 570s GT4 car in the UK GT Cup Championship[3].
  • 2023: Became the first female rider in India to complete 100,000 kilometers on a Harley-Davidson, eventually reaching 160,000 km[4].
  • 2023: Entered India Book of Records for riding from the lowest point of India (Kanyakumari) to the highest motorable road[5].
  • 2023: Won the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC), claiming victories in individual chapters across Coorg, Itanagar, Bengaluru, and other locations[6].
  • 2024: Clinched the RAAT Thailand Rally Championship (Women’s) title after four rounds of competition against six nations[7].

INSPIRATIONS

While specific mentors aren’t extensively documented in her story, it’s clear that Gulati draws inspiration from the broader community of women breaking barriers in male-dominated spaces. Her work as a certified coach at the Harley Davidson Riding Academy suggests she’s as motivated to inspire the next generation as she is to rack up her own achievements. The recognition she received from Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, who felicitated top women in motorsports and promised government support, likely reinforced her belief that representation matters—and that her success creates space for others.

REPUTATION

Gulati has built a reputation as one of India’s most versatile and relentless female racers. She’s not just talented in one discipline—she’s conquered circuit racing, rally championships, and endurance riding with equal ferocity. In a country where women in motorsports are still fighting for recognition and support, she’s become a symbol of what’s possible when talent meets determination.

Her achievement in winning Formula Woman 2022 and competing internationally in the UK GT Cup elevated her profile beyond India, proving she could hold her own on global stages. The motorsports community respects her not just for her trophy collection but for her genuine commitment to advocacy and coaching. She’s serious about her craft, but she’s also serious about pulling other women up with her.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Gulati continues to compete in the Indian National Rally Championship, with recent entries showing she’s still actively racing in 2025. Her trajectory suggests she’s aiming to maintain her dominance in national rally competitions while potentially expanding her international presence. Given her track record of setting ambitious goals—both literally and figuratively—it wouldn’t be surprising to see her chase more international championships or set new endurance records. Whatever comes next, it’s safe to say she’s not slowing down anytime soon.
