FULL BIO: Chiara Battig
Chiara Bättig is a Swiss karting champion who earned her first racing kart through small jobs at age eight and has since become one of the most promising young talents in motorsport, joining the prestigious Red Bull Junior Team at just 15 years old.
EARLY YEARS
Born on March 21, 2010, in Urdorf, Zürich, Switzerland, Chiara discovered her passion for racing at age eight. Unlike many motorsport families, her parents were complete newcomers to the karting world but threw themselves into supporting their daughter’s dream—acting as her mechanics and helping stretch a limited budget with secondhand engines. What set Chiara apart early on wasn’t just raw talent, but her work ethic: she earned her first racing kart by taking on small jobs over several months, proving she was serious about this expensive sport. Her analytical mind was already sharp—she’d dominated under-8 chess competitions before turning her strategic thinking toward racecraft.
OTHER INTERESTS
Chiara maintains her competitive edge through cross-training in swimming, skiing, snowboarding, and cycling, understanding that physical fitness directly translates to better performance behind the wheel. She’s fluent in German, English, and French, reflecting both her Swiss heritage and international motorsport ambitions. When she’s not racing, you’ll find her at local kart tracks in Wohlen and Lyss—not as a competitor, but as a coach, regularly mentoring aspiring young racers who dream of following her path.
EARLY SUCCESS
Starting her karting career in 2018 with used equipment and her parents learning on the fly, Chiara quickly proved that talent trumps budget. Her methodical approach to racing—analyzing data sheets and visualizing races instead of listening to music before competing—set her apart from other young drivers. The investment in development programs like FIA Girls on Track and Alpine Race(H)er helped refine her skills, but it was her natural racecraft that caught attention. By her teens, she was consistently winning heats and securing podium finishes in the competitive OK category, establishing herself as a force in Swiss karting.

INSPIRATIONS
While Chiara hasn’t publicly named specific racing heroes, her motivation comes from a desire to inspire the next generation of female racers. Her goal extends beyond personal success—she wants to attract more girls to motorsport and serve as a role model, actively coaching young drivers and showing them that gender is no barrier to reaching the top levels of racing.
REPUTATION
Chiara has built a reputation as a detail-oriented, analytically-minded racer who approaches each race with professional precision rare for her age. Her selection to the Red Bull Junior Team—a program that has launched numerous Formula 1 careers—speaks volumes about how the motorsport industry views her potential. She’s known for her consistency, racecraft, and ability to perform under pressure, qualities that have made her one of the most watched young talents in European karting. Her commitment to mentoring other young drivers has also earned respect throughout the paddock.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
With Red Bull Junior Team backing, Chiara is set to make the significant jump from karting to Formula 4 in 2025, marking a crucial step toward her ultimate goal of reaching the top levels of motorsport. Her stated ambition is straightforward: “to be on top of the podium as often as possible” while continuing to inspire other girls to enter racing. The Red Bull pathway has historically led to Formula 1, and at just 15, Chiara has the time and talent to potentially follow that route while maintaining her role as an ambassador for female participation in motorsport.
