FULL BIO: Erin Vogel
Erin Vogel is a pioneering American sports car racer who made history as the first woman to win a GT3 race in the SRO GT World Challenge series. With over twenty career podiums and a driver’s championship under her belt, she’s become a powerful advocate for women in motorsports while balancing racing with leadership roles in family businesses.
EARLY YEARS
Growing up in a family that embraced motorsports, Erin’s racing journey began in an unconventional way—with a family outing to an Audi Club track day in 2009. Her parents and younger brother had been attending these events for about a year when she joined them for her first track experience in a Lexus IS sedan. This mid-twenties introduction to racing came after she’d already established herself academically, graduating from Mount Holyoke College with Bachelor’s degrees in English and Music, plus additional studies in Interior Design.
OTHER INTERESTS
Beyond the racetrack, Erin built a successful career in interior design, working with world-renowned clients and design firms. Her creative background in music and English complements her analytical approach to racing, while her business acumen shines through her role as Vice President of the family companies, Vogel Properties and Vogel Engineers, where she manages sales, acquisitions, financing, and bank relations. She’s also deeply involved in motorsports education as a volunteer instructor with the Audi Club of Southern California’s HPDE Committee.
EARLY SUCCESS
What started as casual family track days evolved into serious racing when Erin obtained her racing license in 2014. She began competing at Inde Motorsports Ranch before transitioning to local SoCal Porsche Owners Club races in 2016. The real breakthrough came through Porsche connections that led her to Flying Lizard Motorsports, where she raced at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in 2018. This partnership opened doors to GT4 competition for two full seasons before making the leap to the ultra-competitive GT3 series.
