FULL BIO: Kate Re
Kate Re is a rising Maine stock car driver who made history as the first female to qualify outright for the Oxford 250 and the second woman ever to win a Super Late Model feature at Oxford Plains Speedway.
EARLY YEARS
Born around 2003-2004, Kate grew up in Norway, Maine, in a motorsports-loving family where her father Rick Re introduced her to the mechanical side of racing from an early age. At eight years old, she climbed into her first go-kart and spent the next nine years perfecting her craft on the karting circuit—a foundation that would prove invaluable when she made the leap to stock cars at sixteen. Her father didn’t just teach her how to drive; he made sure she could tear apart an engine and put it back together again, a skill set that would define her hands-on approach to racing. Kate graduated from Maine Connections Academy, an online high school that allowed her to focus on her racing career while still getting her education.
OTHER INTERESTS
When she’s not behind the wheel, Kate can be found in the shop nearly every weeknight, working on her car with grease under her fingernails and a wrench in her hand. “I love working on my car in the shop almost every night during the week. It is a lot of fun getting my hands dirty,” she says, proving that her passion extends far beyond just driving. Currently, she’s pursuing studies in real estate, showing she’s got her eye on building a future beyond the track.
EARLY SUCCESS
Kate’s transition from go-karts to stock cars wasn’t just smooth—it was spectacular. After dominating the karting scene for nine years, she jumped into the Pro All Stars Series Modified division and immediately started collecting wins. Multiple feature victories over two seasons proved she could handle the bigger, faster cars, but Kate had her sights set even higher. At sixteen, she made the bold move to Super Late Model racing, joining the weekly competition at Oxford Plains Speedway and running the full PASS North tour starting in 2020. Her early stock car career wasn’t without its bumps—literally. Crashes and DNFs taught her hard lessons about racecraft, but each setback only made her more determined to prove she belonged.

INSPIRATIONS
Rick Re isn’t just Kate’s father—he’s her mentor, mechanic, and biggest champion. He introduced her to the world of motorsports and continues to be her primary influence, teaching her everything from chassis setup to racecraft strategy. Their father-daughter team represents the best of grassroots racing, where family bonds and shared passion drive success more than big budgets or corporate backing.
REPUTATION
In a sport where respect is earned one lap at a time, Kate has built a reputation as a driver who lets her talent do the talking. Fellow racer Gabe Brown, who grew up racing against her, praises her skill and racecraft, noting that once the helmet goes on, gender becomes irrelevant. The racing community has embraced her not as a novelty but as a legitimate competitor who happens to be breaking barriers along the way. Media coverage consistently focuses on her achievements and skill development rather than creating controversy, reflecting the genuine respect she’s earned in the paddock. Her father puts it best: “Once you put your helmet on, it is just like anybody else. It doesn’t matter if male or female or what.”
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Kate’s immediate focus is making history at the Oxford 250, where she aims to become the first female winner of the prestigious race. Currently sitting second in points at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2025—her best season yet—she’s positioning herself as a serious contender for that elusive victory. While she continues her real estate studies, racing remains her primary passion, and she’s committed to competing full-time in the Super Late Model series with her family team.
