Krista Baldwin stands as the only third-generation Top Fuel driver in NHRA history, carrying forward the legacy of her grandfather Chris “The Greek” Karamesines and father Bobby Baldwin while blazing her own trail as both a competitive racer and motorsport business leader.
EARLY YEARS
Born on July 20, 1993, in Upland, California, Krista grew up just miles from the legendary Pomona dragstrip—a fitting birthplace for someone destined for racing greatness. With her grandfather being celebrated drag racing legend Chris Karamesines and her father Bobby Baldwin a prominent independent Top Fuel racer, she was quite literally “born with nitro in her veins.” Her childhood was immersed in the sights, sounds, and culture of drag racing, with family traditions and regular exposure to the sport fueling her passion from an early age. The proximity to Pomona provided easy access to competitive racing, allowing her to witness firsthand the legends of the sport—including her own family members—which planted the seeds for her future as both a driver and team owner.
EARLY SUCCESS
Krista’s racing journey began at age 18 in 2012, when she first climbed behind the wheel of a Nostalgia front engine dragster, recording an impressive 7.6-second run at 180 mph. This modest beginning laid the groundwork for rapid progression in the sport. By 2015, she had upgraded to an A/Fuel dragster and began competing in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, where her performance improved dramatically. Her skill in the A/Fuel class culminated in a personal best of 5.26 seconds at 276 mph, marking her as a rising talent in the drag racing world. In 2016, Baldwin became the 34th woman to qualify in the competitive A/Fuel class, further cementing her place in the sport. Her determination reached new heights in 2019 when she purchased her own A/Fuel dragster operation, demonstrating both racing talent and business acumen.

As NHRA’s only third-generation Top Fuel driver, she bridges drag racing’s rich history with its future, honoring tradition while pushing boundaries. Beyond her driving skills, Krista has built a reputation as a multifaceted motorsport professional through her roles as Creative Director for McLeod Racing and FTI Performance and as General Manager for Paul Lee Racing. This combination of on-track performance and off-track leadership has established her as a formidable figure in the typically male-dominated world of drag racing—someone who represents both the heritage and evolution of the sport.
