FULL BIO: Lily Watkins
Lily-May Watkins is a rising British motorsports talent who made her single-seater debut in the GB4 Championship in 2025 at just 17 years old. Born in North London and raised in a family passionate about sports and cars, she’s already making her mark as one of the few female drivers competing at this level.
EARLY YEARS
Born in 2007 in North London, England, Lily-May grew up in an environment where motorsports weren’t just background noise—they were part of the family DNA. Living near Hertfordshire, close to both the Rye House racing track and Lewis Hamilton’s hometown, she was practically surrounded by racing culture from day one. Her family’s strong interest in sports and cars created the perfect storm for a future racer, though it took until 2019 for 12-year-old Lily to actually get behind the wheel of a kart for the first time at Rye House.

EARLY SUCCESS
Talk about making an entrance—Lily finished 4th in her very first karting race against 12 drivers at Rye House in 2019. From there, she hit the ground running, securing podium finishes in every one-day junior race she entered that year. When 2020 threw everyone a curveball with race cancellations, she pivoted to sim racing to keep her skills sharp—a move that would prove invaluable for her development. By 2021, she was back on track dominating the Rye House Lando Cup junior series, finishing 3rd overall with four podium finishes and earning the distinction of being the only female driver in the top three that year.
