Lucy's bio:

Lucy Michel is a rising German motorcycle racer who made history as the sole German rider competing in the inaugural 2024 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, proving her speed and determination on the international stage while juggling a degree in medical technology for radiology.

EARLY YEARS

Born November 9, 2004, in Erlabrunn, Germany, Lucy Michel’s racing career began with childhood curiosity and a little pushiness. At eight years old, she spotted motorcycles at a local fair and convinced her family to take her to the Sachsenring Grand Prix track for a pocket bike ride.[1] Her parents signed her up for racing training, and she was hooked almost immediately. “I was briefly riding dressage before that,” she later said, but the thrill of two wheels on tarmac won out over horses.[2]

She finished fifth in her very first race, a result that only fueled her fire.[3] From there, Lucy began training seriously at Sachsenring, quickly transitioning from curious beginner to competitive racer. By 2012, she had taken her first official steps into motorcycle racing, showing early signs of the focus and fearlessness that would define her career.[4]

OTHER INTERESTS

Outside the paddock, Michel is a student of medical technology for radiology—a field that requires precision, problem-solving, and an ability to stay calm under pressure, skills that translate remarkably well to racing.[5] Balancing coursework with a full racing schedule is no small feat, but she manages both with discipline and determination. It’s a reminder that her ambitions extend beyond the racetrack, even as she chases podiums at world-class circuits.

EARLY SUCCESS

Lucy’s competitive career took off in 2014 when she entered the ADAC Pocket Bike Cup and took her first victory in her debut season.[6] It was a statement—she wasn’t just participating, she was winning. In 2016, she moved up to the ADAC Mini Bike Cup, continuing to develop her racecraft against tougher competition.[7] She then progressed through the ADAC Junior Cup, scoring points and proving she belonged among Germany’s best young riders.[8]

Her next step was the IDM (International German Championship) Supersport 300 class, where she further honed her skills racing full-sized machines. In 2023, she finished 21st in the championship—a solid result that set the stage for her leap to the world stage.[9] By the time the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship launched in 2024, Michel had spent over a decade building her experience, race by race.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2014: Won her first race in debut season of ADAC Pocket Bike Cup.[10]
  • 2016: Competed in ADAC Mini Bike Cup.[11]
  • 2023: Finished 21st in IDM Supersport 300 Championship.[12]
  • 2024: Named the only German rider in the inaugural FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship with TSL-Racing aboard a Yamaha YZF-R7.[13]
  • 2024: Finished in the top three during pre-season testing at Cremona on the first day.[14]
  • 2024: Recorded a double Top 10 finish in her WorldWCR debut.[15]
  • 2024: Took a career-best seventh-place finish at Donington Park.[16]

INSPIRATIONS

Lucy Michel’s racing philosophy is simple and powerful: “If you dare to do it, you can do it, and you should never give up.”[17] It’s a mindset born from years of pushing through challenges in a male-dominated sport, from convincing her parents to let her race as a child to holding her own on the world stage. For her, being a rider is about freedom—the kind that comes from speed, focus, and total commitment.[18]

REPUTATION

Michel has earned respect for her consistency, work ethic, and composure under pressure. Racing in the WorldWCR’s inaugural season meant every session mattered, every result was scrutinized, and every mistake was magnified. She handled it with professionalism, steadily improving throughout the year and proving herself capable of running with the best female riders in the world. Her ability to balance academics with a full racing calendar has also drawn admiration—proof that she’s not just fast, but disciplined and driven in every aspect of her life.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Lucy Michel continues racing in the 2025 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship with TSL-Racing, competing again on the Yamaha YZF-R7.[19] She participated in the pre-season test at Cremona in early 2025 alongside all 24 riders on the grid, preparing for another season of high-stakes, all-female racing.[20] With more experience under her belt and continued development, she’s positioned to build on her 2024 performances and push further up the standings. The goal is clear: keep improving, keep fighting, and prove that Germany has a world-class female racer to watch.
