Mianna's bio:

Mianna Wick is an open-wheel racer from Delta, Colorado, who built her career from a backyard go-kart track through Formula Ford 1600 and Formula Mazda to the cockpit of a vintage IndyCar — a path that was never straightforward, and is still unfolding.

EARLY YEARS

Mianna grew up in a family that moved often. When she was six, her father’s job prompted a relocation — first to Missouri, then Kansas, then to a small town in Colorado, before the family eventually returned home [1]. The constant thread through all of it was her father Mike, who came from a background in mechanics and motorcycle racing and who would prove to be the most consequential figure in her racing life [1].

Before she was 10, he had built a family go-kart from scrap four-wheeler parts and, once the family was back in Colorado, laid out a small quarter-mile track [1]. Her mother Suzanna and her older sister were part of the picture too — the kind of tight family unit that either makes motorsport possible or makes the sacrifices of it bearable, often both [1].

Her parents entered her in a local karting event after they saw how enthusiastic she was about the kart. She won that first race [1]. She acknowledges the timeline herself: “Although I started at 10, which felt like a late start compared to others who began at four, I made the most of it.” [1] The second race was a regional event, where she placed second. The third was with a national team in Tucson [1]. That is a steep and fast learning curve by any measure.

The move into cars came through Phil Giebler, a former IndyCar Rookie of the Year who invited her to test a Formula Ford 1600 and advised the family to get a car so she could build seat time [1]. She subsequently obtained certification from Bondurant Racing School and acquired a Formula Ford of her own [1].

OTHER INTERESTS

Away from the track, Mianna Wick describes herself as a faith speaker, and her website identifies speaking about faith and writing about racing, faith, and perseverance as central interests [1]. A 2016 profile reported that she was a part-time co-owner of LBF Motorsports alongside her parents [2]. That same profile noted she worked out as part of her off-track routine and spent time connecting with fans and pursuing potential sponsors — the unglamorous but necessary work that funds an underfunded career [2].

She earned a college degree in Small Business with a Marketing major, a credential listed among her 2014 accomplishments in that 2016 profile [2].

EARLY SUCCESS

The organized portion of her career took shape through Loophole Racing and team principal David Hoffpauir, who selected her to drive for the team and put her in Formula Ford and then Formula Mazda machinery [2]. In 2014, she recorded two race wins at the Labor Day Daze event in SCCA Formula Mazda competition [2]. In 2015, the results kept coming: a race-one second place and a race-two win at the Freedom Sprint [2]. These are event wins rather than championship titles, but in a class where results tend to determine whether a driver gets future opportunities, they counted.

Also in 2014, Hoffpauir gave her time in a 2003 Indy car — another rung on the ladder, and a preview of what was coming [2]. By 2015, she had completed a test in a 1996 Indy car, though sources are clear that this was a test rather than a race start [2]. Her own description of that experience is the most direct thing she has said publicly about what draws her to the sport: “Driving an INDYCAR is the most peaceful and amazing feel one can get from an activity. The very first time I drove an INDYCAR the only way I could describe how it felt to others, was that it felt like I was home.” [2]

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2014: Two race wins at the Labor Day Daze event in SCCA Formula Mazda competition with Loophole Racing [2].
  • 2015: Race-two win and race-one second place at the Freedom Sprint in SCCA Formula Mazda [2].
  • 2015: Completed a test in a 1996 IndyCar [2].

INSPIRATIONS

Her father sits at the center of her story. His mechanical background and motorcycle-racing experience were what made the family go-kart possible in the first place, and that kart was the foundation of everything that followed [1]. Phil Giebler, the former IndyCar Rookie of the Year who invited her to test a Formula Ford 1600 and encouraged the family to invest in more seat time, is the other major early influence she names [1].

She has also been open about the role her broader support network plays. In 2016, she said her friends and family supported her and made real sacrifices for her racing [2]. That kind of acknowledgment is not incidental — for a driver navigating motorsport without major backing, the people around her are functionally part of the team.

On the subject of women in the sport, she has been both clear-eyed and committed: she described motorsport as male-dominated and said that being a woman in it was an honor worth “withstanding the uphills” [2]. She has also said she hoped that women watching her race would feel encouraged and become more self-confident [2].

REPUTATION

A January 2016 profile in Horsepower & Heels presented Wick as an “INDYCAR Driver,” a characterization that reflects the ambition and trajectory of her career more than its confirmed race-start record — the sources that document her IndyCar activity describe a test rather than a race entry [2]. It is the kind of gap that comes up frequently when covering drivers who are clearly pointed in a direction but haven’t yet reached the finish line of opportunity. The J.P. Emerson Show later described her story as a journey “from a backyard go-kart track to driving a 1996 vintage IndyCar,” which captures the arc more accurately [3].

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

As of a May 2026 podcast listing, Mianna Wick is described as rebuilding her career with Pegasus Motorsports Group and continuing to drive a 1996 vintage IndyCar [3]. No specific race schedule or series entry has been announced in the sources available. Her website frames her mission in broader terms — pushing limits, inspiring others, and living by faith — without naming a dated competition target [1].
