FULL BIO: Shion Tsujimoto
Shion Tsujimoto is a Japanese racing driver who has carved out an impressive career path from karting prodigy to endurance racing champion, becoming one of Japan’s most accomplished female motorsports competitors.
EARLY YEARS
Born in 2002, Shion’s racing journey began when her father took her to a kart race in Japan in 2012, sparking an immediate fascination with motorsports. At just 10 years old, she was captivated by the speed and competition, and by 2013—barely a year later—she was competing domestically in the JAF Junior Karting Championships. Her talent was evident from the start, and by 2014 and 2015, she was already taking on European competition, including all three rounds of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
OTHER INTERESTS
While Shion’s racing career is well-documented, she keeps her personal interests and hobbies largely private, with no publicly available information about activities outside of motorsports.
EARLY SUCCESS
Tsujimoto’s rapid progression through karting caught the attention of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, who selected her in 2016 for a funded karting drive—a prestigious opportunity that marked her as a rising talent. At 14, she was already practicing in the demanding KZ class, demonstrating her commitment to improving her racecraft. Her dedication paid off as she transitioned from domestic Japanese competition to international European events within just two years of starting her racing career.

- 2024: Continued success in Super Taikyu with race wins driving Honda Civic Type R TCR
INSPIRATIONS
Shion credits her father as her primary inspiration and the catalyst for her racing career. His decision to introduce her to karting in 2012 set everything in motion, and she has consistently acknowledged his role in her journey into motorsports.
REPUTATION
Tsujimoto is regarded as one of Japan’s most promising female racing talents, earning recognition from international motorsport bodies early in her career. She’s respected for her technical skill and consistency, particularly in endurance racing where she’s proven herself as a reliable teammate and fierce competitor. Media coverage consistently highlights her as a leading female racer in Japan, and she’s seen as part of a new wave of women breaking into traditionally male-dominated series. Her association with successful Honda racing programs has further solidified her reputation as a serious competitor rather than just a novelty act.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
While Shion remains active in Super Taikyu endurance racing as of 2024, she has not publicly released detailed plans for 2025 and beyond. Her current success with Honda-affiliated teams suggests continued participation in Japanese touring car and endurance racing, though specific goals and series commitments have not been announced.
