• Racing sisters HAMDA and AMNA AL QUBAISI are stepping up from Ligier European Series to Michelin Le Mans Cup in LMP3 for 2026, building on their improving form throughout this season. Their father Khaled, an ex-WEC racer, shared the Team Virage Ligier LMP3 car with his daughters during Sunday’s Rookie Test and continues looking for opportunities to race alongside them in the future.
• The post-season Rookie Test at Portimao showcased multiple family racing dynamics, with 37 cars and drivers aged 17-79 participating. Beyond the Al Qubaisi family, other notable family partnerships included Christian Ried overseeing both his EMS season racer son Jonas and 18-year-old Lenny Ried’s first track outings, plus the Felbermayr father-son duo preparing for Asian Le Mans Series competition.
• Michelle Gatting joined Richard Lietz for Goodyear’s 2027-spec LMGT3 tire testing program in a Manthey Porsche 911 LMGT3.R, marking the start of track testing for the tire manufacturer’s forthcoming Eagles after meeting sustainability targets through internal simulations.
