FULL BIO: Sofia Zanfari
Sofia Zanfari is a Moroccan motorsport talent who rose to prominence through karting before transitioning to single-seater racing, becoming one of North Africa’s leading female racing prospects.
EARLY YEARS
Born on October 3, 2007, in Marrakech, Morocco, Sofia grew up immersed in motorsport culture thanks to her father Said Zanfari, a former enduro rally competitor. By age 8, she was already competing in karts at the Marrakech Karting Center, where her father’s mentorship and the garage atmosphere became her second home. Growing up in Morocco, where motorsport infrastructure is limited, her early career required resilience and extensive travel to European circuits to gain competitive experience.
EARLY SUCCESS
In 2017, at just 9 years old, Sofia claimed victory in the women’s category at the Easykart International Grand Prix in Italy—a pivotal moment that signaled her potential on the international stage. This achievement was particularly remarkable given the limited motorsport resources available in her home country. As she later told FIA Girls on Track, “Racing felt like a language I already knew, thanks to my dad,” demonstrating the natural talent that would define her career trajectory.
