Sujana's bio:

Sujana Dandu is a 13-year-old Singaporean karting racer born in Perth, Australia, who discovered motorsports during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since become one of the most promising young talents in Asian karting—competing internationally alongside her twin sister Sanjana under the Legion of Racers talent management program.

EARLY YEARS

Born around 2012 in Perth, Australia, Sujana Dandu relocated to Singapore in 2020 with her family, where she’s been studying ever since. She has a twin sister, Sanjana, and their father Suram Dandu—a race car driver with 20 years of experience—would become the catalyst for their unexpected journey into motorsports.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and lockdowns swept across the globe, Suram saw an opportunity. With his daughters around eight years old and, as Sujana put it, “nothing to do,” he decided to introduce them to karting as a non-contact sport they could safely pursue. What started as pandemic boredom relief quickly transformed into something far more serious. The girls took to racing immediately, and their father’s deep connections in the regional motorsport scene—which included events like the Singapore Grand Prix, races in Selangor and Penang, plus around 50 club-level sprints and hill climbs annually—fueled their growing obsession.

Singapore’s karting scene may be small, but it’s devoted, and the Dandu twins made their mark at Kranji KF1 Karting Circuit almost immediately. The narrow, technical tracks of Singapore proved challenging—hard to overtake on, demanding precision—but they were the perfect training ground for two fierce competitors who just happened to share DNA.

OTHER INTERESTS

Beyond karting, little is publicly known about Sujana’s interests outside the track. At 13 and fully committed to her racing development, her focus appears firmly planted on becoming a better driver.

EARLY SUCCESS

Sujana’s early racing career has been defined by her twin sister’s constant presence—sometimes literally one position ahead or behind on the results sheet. The two have shared podiums “countless times” at Kranji KF1, their performances so closely matched they’re described as being “like magnets.” When asked who’s quicker, both immediately answer “me.” On track, sisterhood is, as they say, off the table.

But their rivalry pushed both twins to excel beyond Singapore’s borders. Sujana began competing internationally, taking on harder tracks in Thailand where she found the increased competition and more technical circuits suited her driving style. Thailand’s tracks, she and her sister noted, offered more drivers and tougher challenges than the narrow confines of Singapore’s circuits, making overtaking more feasible and racing more dynamic.

The pinnacle, however, was Italy—home to some of the best karting drivers and teams in the world. Racing there exposed Sujana to a level of competition and professionalism that reshaped her understanding of what it takes to succeed. “I hope I can take the things I learned there and bring them here,” she reflected. “Italy has very good drivers. Whilst the drivers and teams here are also very good, [Italy] is the pinnacle.”

Her performances caught the attention of Legion of Racers, Singapore’s prominent motorsports organization. In a significant milestone for both twins, they became the first two female racers signed to Legion of Racers’ newly established talent management unit—a clear signal that the organization saw championship potential in these teenage sisters.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2024: Competed in the Asia Pacific Karting Championship at KF1 Karting Circuit, representing Singapore and making headlines for her debut performance (July 5-7)[4][5].
  • 2024: Competed in the Champions of the Future Karting Academy alongside elite young drivers from around the world[3][5].
  • 2024: Became one of the first two female racers signed to Legion of Racers’ new talent management unit[2][3][5].
  • 2025: Returned to the Champions of the Future Karting Academy, continuing her development against international competition[3][6].
  • 2025: Competed in FIA Karting events using Kosmic chassis with Vortex engines and Vega tires[6].
  • Ongoing: Multiple podium finishes at Singapore’s Kranji KF1 Karting Circuit in ROK CUP competition[1].

INSPIRATIONS

Sujana’s inspiration comes from watching the regional motorsports landscape her father helped introduce her to—the excitement of events like the Singapore Grand Prix, the grassroots racing scene throughout Malaysia, and the countless club-level competitions that demonstrated motorsports was accessible and thrilling. More recently, her experiences racing against Italy’s top young talents have shaped her understanding of what elite-level karting looks like and given her clear benchmarks to chase.

REPUTATION

Despite being only 13, Sujana has already made a big impression in Singapore’s tight-knit karting community. Her performances at the Asia Pacific Karting Championship proved she could compete on an international stage, while her selection as one of Legion of Racers’ first female talent management signings speaks to the organization’s belief in her potential. She’s known for her closely-matched battles with her twin sister—races where the two finish separated by a single position or mere seconds—and for her maturity in analyzing different racing environments, from Singapore’s narrow technical tracks to Thailand’s more overtaking-friendly circuits to Italy’s world-class competition.

The fact that both twins confidently claim to be the faster driver isn’t arrogance—it’s the mindset of competitors who refuse to settle for second place, even when racing against someone who shares your birthday and your breakfast table. That competitive fire, combined with their obvious talent, has made the Dandu twins rising stars worth watching in Asian karting circles.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Sujana’s 2025 season sees her continuing with the Champions of the Future Karting Academy, where she’ll face off against some of Europe’s best young talents. She’s also competing in FIA Karting events with professional-grade equipment—Kosmic chassis, Vortex engines, and Vega tires—the kind of setup that signals serious championship ambitions. Her stated goal is to bring the lessons learned from racing against Italy’s elite drivers back to Singapore, raising the level of her own performance and potentially the entire regional scene. With Legion of Racers backing her development and international experience accumulating rapidly, Sujana is positioning herself for a potential jump to car racing in the coming years—though for now, karting remains the focus, and beating her twin sister remains the daily challenge.
