• KATHERINE LEGGE secures 33rd and final entry with HMD Motorsports-Foyt for 2026 Indy 500 at age 45, marking uncertain future as no emerging female talent appears ready to continue legacy.
• JANET GUTHRIE pioneered female presence in 1977 after failed 1976 attempt, battling sexism and mechanical issues before borrowing A.J. Foyt’s backup chassis. Later achieved best ninth-place finish in 1978.
• JAMIE CHADWICK showed promise winning 2024 Road America Indy NXT race, first female victory since 2010. Three-time W Series champion now reserves for Genesis Magma Racing’s WEC Hypercar program.
• SIMONA DE SILVESTRO drove for all-female Paretta Motorsports team partnered with Penske in 2021. Nine total women have competed at Indianapolis since 1977, with peak of four entries in 2010-2011.
