CÉLIA MARTIN, SARAH BOVY & MICHELLE GATTING Close ALMS With Recovery Drives

February 17, 2025

GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • Iron Dames wrapped their debut Asian Le Mans Series campaign with back-to-back recovery drives at Yas Marina, gaining nine positions in both races to finish 7th and 13th. The all-female trio of CÉLIA MARTIN, SARAH BOVY, and MICHELLE GATTING fought through traffic and multiple safety car periods, showcasing the team’s tactical prowess despite starting deep in the field both days.
  • Bronze-rated rookie CÉLIA MARTIN continued her steep learning curve in the competitive 30-car GT field, avoiding Turn 1 chaos in both races and demonstrating impressive pace once in clean air. Her best lap of 1:55.8 made her the second-fastest driver in class on that particular lap during Saturday’s race, proving the #85 Porsche had legitimate speed when not stuck in traffic.
  • SARAH BOVY delivered standout middle stints in both races, running as high as fifth on Saturday and consistently lapping in the 1:55s on Sunday despite multiple race disruptions. Her ability to navigate through midfield battles and capitalize on strategic pit windows kept Iron Dames in contention for strong finishes throughout both four-hour endurance tests.
  • MICHELLE GATTING anchored both races with clinical closing drives, breaking into the 1:54s and setting new team benchmarks while defending positions under pressure. The Danish veteran’s consistency in traffic-heavy conditions helped secure Iron Dames’ second top-ten result of the championship, building valuable experience ahead of their return to FIA WEC and ELMS competition.
