GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • San Jose’s JIANNA EVARISTO is making her homecoming count at Sonoma Raceway, where she posted her career-best 6.674-second pass and 204.54 mph last year. Currently seventh in Pro Stock Motorcycle standings with nine races remaining, she qualified fifth-fastest through three rounds with a 6.771-second run, proving this track remains her sweet spot despite admitting a “love-hate relationship” with the added pressure of racing at home.
  • The Scrappers Racing daughter chose the rebellious path in her drag racing family, fighting her parents to race motorcycles instead of following sisters into Top Fuel dragsters. Her father Mike Salinas and sister Jasmine are both on hiatus this season while seeking sponsors, leaving EVARISTO as the family’s sole representative on track – and she’s making the most of her independence on two wheels.
  • Working alongside legends Matt and Angie Smith as Denso/MSR teammates, EVARISTO has gone from childhood Force family fangirl to racing peer in record time. She credits the multi-time champions with mentoring her through the transition from street riding in college to professional drag racing, calling the journey from “little kid who never rode a motorcycle” to racing their bikes “very surreal” and “amazing.”

UPCOMING:

  • NHRA Sonoma Nationals Eliminations – Sunday
  • Nine remaining NHRA PSM races this season
