FULL BIO: Caitlyn McDaniel
At just 18, Caitlyn McDaniel is making waves as one of motorsport’s most promising newcomers, blazing through the GB4 Championship as part of Fox Motorsport’s groundbreaking all-female team lineup.
EARLY YEARS
Born around 2006-2007 in Fairfax County, Virginia, Caitlyn’s racing journey began when her family relocated to London about four years ago. This transatlantic move would prove pivotal—it opened the door to the UK’s robust motorsport development programs that simply weren’t accessible from her Virginia hometown. Unlike many racers who cut their teeth on go-karts as kids, McDaniel came to motorsport relatively late, diving into the Jamie Chadwick all-female karting series in April 2024 at age 17.
OTHER INTERESTS
While Caitlyn keeps her personal life relatively private, she’s actively involved with @girlsontrackuk, supporting initiatives that encourage young women to pursue motorsport careers.
EARLY SUCCESS
McDaniel’s meteoric rise is nothing short of impressive. Within months of starting karting in the Jamie Chadwick series, she was consistently finishing in the top six—a remarkable achievement for someone who had never raced competitively before 2024. Her rapid progression caught the attention of Fox Motorsport, who signed her for their ambitious 2025 GB4 Championship campaign. The team made headlines by fielding the first all-female lineup in GB4 history, pairing Caitlyn with Holly Miall. Her single-seater debut came after extensive testing at Snetterton in late 2024 and early 2025, where she proved her adaptability by handling both wet and dry conditions in the Tatuus F4-T014 and later the Tatuus MSV GB4-025.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2024: Regular top-six finisher in Jamie Chadwick all-female karting series
- 2025: Debuted in GB4 Championship with Fox Motorsport as part of first all-female team
- 2025: Made Caterham Seven 270R Championship debut at Zandvoort, starting 13th and finishing 11th with a strong closing move
INSPIRATIONS
Lewis Hamilton stands as McDaniel’s motorsport hero, though she’s forging her own unique path through the ranks. Her late start in racing means she approaches the sport with fresh eyes and fierce determination, unencumbered by the typical junior formula politics that can weigh down drivers who’ve been racing since childhood.
REPUTATION
The motorsport media has taken notice of Caitlyn’s smooth progression and consistent performance. Her Zandvoort debut earned praise for a “superb move” that showcased both racecraft and confidence beyond her experience level. Industry observers note her ability to maintain consistent lap times and execute clean overtakes—hallmarks of a driver with natural racecraft. As part of Fox Motorsport’s pioneering all-female GB4 effort, she’s helping break new ground in a traditionally male-dominated sport, while the team’s professionalism ensures the focus remains on performance rather than novelty.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
McDaniel is laser-focused on her development in the GB4 Championship, with her sights set on claiming the £50,000 prize awarded to the top-performing female driver—money that would fund a shot at the F1 Academy series. “I’m really excited to start my single-seater career with Fox Motorsport,” she said about her GB4 debut. “GB4 is a fantastic entry point for a driver my age who wants to learn and develop.” The 2025 season continues with rounds at circuits including Donington Park and Silverstone GP, giving her valuable experience on some of the UK’s most challenging tracks.
