GRRL! SUMMARY:
- Sixth-grader ASHLYN TAYLOR is making waves as one of the few girls in Ohio’s go-kart racing scene, competing in the Cadet Class and hitting speeds of 55 mph while dealing with the usual suspects who think girls don’t belong on track. She’s letting her lap times do the talking, progressing rapidly to near-record pace at multiple venues.
- The North Ridgeville Academic Center student isn’t just a driver – she’s a full-package racer who changes her own oil, adjusts tire pressure, and studies track layouts like she’s preparing for the SATs. While other kids her age are figuring out social media algorithms, ASHLYN is mastering racing lines and mechanical setups with sponsorship from Fiesta Jalapenos and Legacy Roofing.
- The newly opened Lorain Ohio KartPlex gives ASHLYN a world-class home base for her 35-40 annual races, bringing professional-level competition closer to her support network of family and friends. Her math teacher even uses her racing career as classroom examples, proving that when you’re breaking barriers, you become the lesson plan for what’s possible.
UPCOMING:
- Lorain Ohio KartPlex season continues through October
- Age-out transition to new class next season
