GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • CÉLIA MARTIN, RAHEL FREY and MICHELLE GATTING turned a nightmare start into a masterclass of alternative strategy at Bahrain, overcoming early contact that punctured their tyre and dropped them to the back of the field. The trio’s smart fuel-only stops and exceptional tyre management allowed them to cycle through to the overall LMGT3 class lead during the middle stint, with FREY consistently posting fastest sector times while making her fresh rubber advantage count against rivals stuck on aging tyres.
  • The comeback drive showcased each driver’s strengths – MARTIN’s aggressive recovery from the early contact saw her immediately climb back through traffic and post competitive lap times, FREY’s middle stint was pure tactical brilliance as she led three laps while managing her tyre window perfectly, and GATTING’s final stint pace broke the 2:04 barrier for the first time all race with a stunning 2:03.573 lap time on the restart.
  • A cruel late safety car period killed their points chances when GATTING and rival Charlie Eastwood were caught making pit stops under green flag conditions while others benefited from the neutralization. Despite the frustrating P12 result, Iron Dames proved once again why they’ve become the benchmark for consistency in endurance racing – turning what should have been a write-off weekend into a legitimate shot at the top-10 through pure racecraft and determination.
