GRRL! SUMMARY:
- The Iron Dames are shaking things up for Le Mans 2024, trading their signature pink for a striking white livery on the No. 95 Porsche 911 GT3 R. MICHELLE GATTING, RAHEL FREY, and CÉLIA MARTIN will pilot this special one-off design that keeps just a hint of pink on the rear wing while featuring powerful words like “passion,” “commitment,” and “determination” across the bodywork—values that define what it takes for women to thrive in this sport.
- GATTING didn’t mince words about why the color change might actually be strategic: “Something happens in their heads when they see a pink car,” she explained, noting how some competitors let stereotypes cloud their judgment when racing against the all-female crew. The Danish driver revealed that certain drivers “really make things more difficult for us” simply because they can’t see past the pink car and what it represents, turning every battle into an uphill fight.
- While FREY emphasized the livery’s message about sharing “strong keywords like passion and commitment, everything it takes to survive as women in this sport,” GATTING was refreshingly direct about the practical benefits. The most recognizable car on the grid becoming slightly less conspicuous could level the playing field where it shouldn’t need leveling—because when you’re fighting for position at 200 mph, skill should be the only thing that matters, not the color of your car or what’s between your ears.
