GRRL! SUMMARY:
- MARIA HERRERA delivered when it mattered most, holding off a fierce final-sector attack from BEATRIZ NEILA to win Race 2 at Cremona. The championship leader controlled the pace from start to finish, but had to dig deep in the closing turns when Neila went bar-to-bar with her in a switchback overtake attempt. Herrera cut back inside to reclaim P1, while ROBERTA PONZIANI capitalized on the drama to snatch second from Neila.
- The Klint Forward Racing teammates are absolutely cleaning up this season – PONZIANI took Race 1 and fastest lap in Race 2, while HERRERA grabbed the Race 2 win to extend her championship lead to 13 points. Both riders banked 45 points this weekend, proving their Yamaha YZF-R7 package is the one to beat. Meanwhile, NEILA showed serious fight despite missing the win, keeping herself firmly in title contention just 13 points back.
- Further back, we saw classic WorldWCR depth with PAKITA RUIZ charging from P11 to P7 after early contact, CHLOE JONES claiming another top-10 from P12, and wildcard DENISE DAL ZOTTO holding her own at her home track. The American contingent had a tougher day with MALLORY DOBBS finishing 12th and SONYA LLOYD in 21st, but the series heads to Donington Park next where anything can happen in this incredibly competitive field.
UPCOMING:
- WorldWCR Round 3 – Donington Park, July 11-13
