GRRL! SUMMARY:
- MICHELLE GATTING’s seventh Le Mans campaign with Iron Dames came to a crushing halt during pre-event testing when she suffered two fractures in her right foot during a routine pit stop. The newly-signed Porsche driver had been preparing all year for what she called “THE race of them all,” making her heartbreak even more palpable as she described the injury as the worst pain she’d ever experienced.
- SARAH BOVY steps into the breach for her first WEC start of 2024, joining RAHEL FREY and CELIA MARTIN in the #85 Porsche 911 GT3 R. While Bovy had moved into a management role with the team after her Bronze-to-Silver upgrade, she’s stayed race-sharp through IMSA SportsCar Championship and European Le Mans Series competition, proving the Iron Dames’ depth runs deeper than just their headline drivers.
- The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for GATTING, who was motivated by her new Porsche factory status and the chance to race with Manthey Racing’s legendary operation. Her gracious handover to “dear teammate and very close friend” BOVY shows the solidarity that makes Iron Dames more than just a marketing exercise—this is a genuine sisterhood where one driver’s setback becomes another’s opportunity to shine.
