GRRL! SUMMARY:
- MICHELLE GATTING suffered a crushing blow when a freak pitlane accident during Le Mans Test Day broke her foot in three places, forcing her out of the race she’d been training harder than ever for. The Iron Dames gold-rated driver was caught under the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R when it was accidentally dropped during what should have been a routine repositioning after a red flag.
- SARAH BOVY stepped up to fill the void, returning to WEC competition after taking a season break from the championship. The team boss turned driver will join RAHEL FREY and CELIA MARTIN in the all-female Iron Dames lineup, bringing silver-grade experience to replace Gatting’s gold rating in the LMGT3 class.
- The timing couldn’t be worse for Gatting, who was at peak preparation for her first Le Mans with Porsche after switching from Lamborghini. She’d gotten lighter than ever and was riding high on new motivation, knowing she was “going to Le Mans with the best Porsche team you could go to.” Now she’s targeting a return at Imola in July while the Iron Dames chase both Le Mans glory and their current ELMS championship lead.
