• While the men swept every victory lane at Texas Motorplex, three women advanced through early eliminations in what’s becoming a familiar pattern – we’re making it to the dance floor but the championship trophies keep going elsewhere. BRITTANY FORCE reached the semifinals in Top Fuel before falling to eventual winner Doug Kalitta, showing the speed that’s kept her competitive in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.
• JASMINE SALINAS and IDA ZETTERSTROM both made their presence felt in Top Fuel eliminations, with Salinas falling to Kalitta in the second round and Zetterstrom advancing before meeting the same fate. The fact that three women were running competitive times in the sport’s premier class proves the talent is there – now we need the breaks and the consistency to start claiming some hardware.
• The weekend highlighted both progress and frustration for women’s representation in NHRA’s top categories. While Force continues her strong playoff run and the emerging talents of Salinas and Zetterstrom show depth in the pipeline, the clean sweep by male competitors in all four professional classes reminds us how much work remains to level this playing field completely.
